The snore guard orthodontic appliance is a removable appliance used to maintain potency of the pharyngeal airway. The oral appliance can be used to treat obstructive sleep apnea by repositioning the mandible and tongue forward, thereby, opening the upper airway. This appliance is also very effective in treating snoring. The appliance is low cost, non-invasive and is easy to wear.
The appliance will be fitted at our office because it requires specialized fitting performed by an orthodontist. Dr. Dressler does not diagnose obstructive sleep apnea and only examines the patient after a diagnosis and referral has been made from the medical doctor. At the initial visit, Dr. Dressler will discuss in detail how and why the appliance works. He will also discuss possible complications with the treatment and answer any questions regarding this treatment. The initial visit will take approximately 30 minutes.
